Delicate things often break.
Glass and china and porcelain
And most things beautiful
Will shatter and you can’t un-make
The damage. For the surface of a broken object
Appears quirky and rough, like it can’t contain
Everything it should. But only a total tool
Would assume each crack leaks and neglect
It’s mended frame without even a test
And once it fell again (of course it did) and crumbled all to bits
(I know, you did your best)
Or down its entire length,
Some pieces will forever stay intact. So instead of throwing fits
At the fragility of beauty, think instead how fine to find even one shard
Impervious and so hard.
